Annual Halloween Spook House in Venetian Isles - 10/31/17

For the past 20 years, Mike and Sheila Seaman have worked tirelessly perfecting their family friendly haunted house. All the small details made for a unique and fun experience. VICIA and the Venetian Isles Garden Club offered their support with the Annual Halloween Spook House. The Garden Club was ready for hungry participants as they exited the Spook House with hot dogs, nachos and lots of sweet treats. This event has become a Halloween tradition in our community and is open to neighborhood residents, their families and friends. Thanks to to all of the volunteers and community members that participated and helped make this a fun and safe experience for children of all ages. Click below to see more images from the event.

Community Update

Association Update - 10/26/17

  • I just wanted to remind you that this Saturday October 28th is a neutral grounds clean up day starting at 9 am. In the event of rain, this will be postponed until Saturday November 4th. Please come out and lend a hand as we do the last major "spruce up" before spring. Trash bags will be provided. Please bring your own gloves, garden shears and loppers, rakes, etc.
  • There will be a special meeting Tuesday November 7th at 7 pm at the fire station for approval of the new board. No positions were opposed so the slate will need to be accepted by acclimation. Come meet the new board who are generously giving of their time to keep VICIA active. We have some new faces with fresh ideas that are always welcomed. See attachment. If someone you nominated is not on this list, it is either because they declined the nomination or are not eligible i.e. not a paid member. This will be a very short part of the meeting.
  • You requested at our general meeting earlier this month to meet the City Council candidates. I have invited James Gray and Cyndi Nguyen who will be in a runoff later in November for the City Council seat for District E. Cyndi Nguyen graciously accepted and is eager to establish a relationship with Venetian Isles. James Gray, the incumbant, has yet to respond. Come prepared with any questions you would like to ask the candidates.
  • The annual Second Harvest Food Drive is Saturday November 11th starting at 10 am in front of the fire station. Please check all non-perishable items for expiration dates as Second Harvest will  not accept expired items. If you prefer to give a check, please make it out to Second Harvest. There are many families who depend on this food bank . So as we approach Thanksgiving, a time of plenty for most of us, please remember those who are not as fortunate. In the past, residents of Venetian Isles have been very generous and I am confidant that will again be the case.
  • Santa in the Isles is Saturday December 9th starting at 6 pm. Flyers will be distributed in November. There will be 2 boats again this year but Santa and his elves seem to come up with something new each year so mark your calendars now so that you don't miss out.
